Supporting Andy’s Man Club – It’s Okay To Talk – February 2026 update

Andy’s Man Club now has 5 groups running across Bury, meeting every Monday (except on bank holidays) from 7pm.  Andy’s Man Club offers free to attend support, with the aim of ending the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and helping men through the power of conversation.

Run by volunteers and now serving the whole of the UK, the groups offer a safe, confidential place that is free of any judgement, focusing on the power of talking. Men aged 18+ can simply turn up, open up, and talk as much or as little as they would like with no pressure – some men prefer to just listen.

Our visit to Andy’s Man Club Bury South

Dave and Carrie from our team visited Andy’s Man Club Bury South group, which meets at Bury Sports Club on Radcliffe Road on a Monday evening from 7pm.

We were given a very warm welcome ahead of the group session and heard about how the Bury group presence has grown hugely in popularity, starting with 1 group, Bury now has 5, together regularly attracting 50 or more men every week.

We took along hampers of refreshments to help out with supplies of warm drinks and snacks to enjoy at upcoming support group meetings.

We hope to welcome Andy’s Man Club to a future Team Tower learning session, so that our wider team can hear firsthand about the amazing work that they do, knowledge that will benefit both our team members and our patients.

Radcliffe Self-Managed Allotment Association – November 2025 update

The rain didn’t dampen our spirits when we visited Radcliffe Self-Managed Allotment Association.

Elaine and Carrie from our team received a very warm welcome from Mary and Joy, to hear all about the allotment and what it has to offer the local community.  They enjoyed a cuppa in the Brew & Trowel shed and chatted about how the Association could make best use of the financial donation made by the practice to support this wonderful community asset.

The allotment dates back to the First World War, and now offers a thriving sanctuary for the green fingered and those wanting to feel more connected with the outdoors.

The allotment boasts a number of plots, with two currently gifted by the Association, one for use by a local primary school to help with children’s outdoor education, from growing vegetables to the importance of bees (there are bee hives on site!), and a second is gifted for the use of Age UK.

There is a community shed shop and regular barbecues are hosted on site for the local community, there is no charge but people can make a small donation to help with the running of these community events if they are able to.

The allotment also hosts Community Payback which has been a great help for keeping on top of important maintenance jobs.

Future plans for the site include setting up a craft group and creating an accessible community wildlife area.

If you would like to find out more about the Radcliffe Self-Managed Allotment Association, get involved or make a donation, you can find out more about them on their Facebook page

Supporting Porch Boxes – October 2025 update

Supporting our local community matters to us, and we felt honoured to be invited to Porch Boxes during October, to meet the team, hear about the amazing work they do, and to make a donation from the practice.

Our team collection for Porch Boxes

Across our four sites, our team members dug deep to donate items that Porch Boxes needed the most.  A representative from each of our sites met up at the warehouse to make the delivery, and it was a really proud moment that our team’s donations filled 8 crates, with tinned goods, other non-perishable items, toiletries and baby supplies.

We also made a financial donation from the practice to support this vital project.

More about Porch Boxes

Porch Boxes is a registered charity that has been running for 25 years – the name comes from where it all started… in the porch of a house.

Porch Boxes provides crisis packs to local agencies to distribute to people in urgent need. All of the work is done by volunteers, and all of the donations go directly to the people that need them.

Whilst packing our crates and watching the volunteers hard at work, it was really heartwarming and humbling to witness these selfless acts of kindness, people giving their time to support other people in need in our local community.

Porch Boxes puts together around 60 food packages every week, but their support goes far beyond food, and has expanded into toiletries, bedding and beds for children.

Donating to Porch Boxes

With cost of living pressures being felt across our community, donations have reduced whilst need has increased.

For anyone able to make a contribution, every item really does make a difference.  Porch Boxes donation points are available in some supermarkets, can be taken to the Porch warehouse on a Wednesday morning. Find out more about how to make a donation to Porch Boxes

Supporting our local community means a BIG deal to us – October 2025 update

As part of our commitment to support the local community, we were delighted to be invited to visit the local charity Bury Involvement Group – BIG in Mental Health – to hear about how they support people experiencing mental health difficulties, and to make a donation.

At Tower Family Healthcare, we are passionate about supporting our local community. That’s why we are proud to sponsor Bury Relics walking football team!

We’ve backed the Relics since 2019 and have recently kitted them out with a brand new team strip to make sure they look the part when out on the pitch.

About Bury Relics

Since 2017, Bury Relics have been giving players aged 50+ the chance to stay active through walking football. Whether it’s more informal community sessions or competitive matches, they offer something for everyone. With an impressive five squads competing in the 2025 Greater Manchester Walking Football League (two over 60s, an over 65s, over 70s and a new over 75s squad that will be wearing the new kit), they really are making their mark on the pitch!

Why we love walking football

Walking football isn’t just a game – it’s a game changer.

It keeps players moving, motivated and connected, and the benefits go far beyond fitness. Walking football can:

  • Reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.
  • Improve balance, core strength and bone density.
  • Lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • Boost mental wellbeing, confidence and social connections.

Most importantly, it’s fun! And when exercise is enjoyable, people stick with it.

Go Bury Relics and good luck for the 2025 season!
